Beat the Heat, or Embrace the Sun This Summer?

CheapTickets.com's summer Off-Season Deals Report Highlights Savings in Florida, the Sunny Southwest and The Bahamas

CHICAGO, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- This summer, travel to the hottest destinations at the best prices. CheapTickets (http://www.cheaptickets.com/), a leading online travel agency that knows, "the less you pay, the better it feels(SM)," introduces its 2008 Summer Off-Season Deals Report.

The detailed analysis highlights three key regions where savings are highest for the summer traveler: Florida beaches, the sunny Southwest and the tropical islands of the Bahamas. With a variety of warm destinations, travelers can choose from activities like improving their tan on the beaches of Florida, experiencing aqua-centric spas in Phoenix, Ariz., or exploring the world's largest underwater cave systems on Grand Bahama Island.

"Summer is peak for many popular North American destinations, but travelers can still find a bargain if they look to winter's hot spots for their summer vacation," said Heather Leisman, senior director of merchandising for CheapTickets. "Destinations like South Florida, the Caribbean and even Phoenix offer great value during the summer months, and the ocean breeze and fabulous pools will keep you cool."

Key findings from the summer 2008 report:

-- The off-season summer destination with the most value is Grand Bahama
Island, offering an average savings of 56 percent on hotel
     accommodations.
-- A 51 percent savings in Phoenix, Ariz. makes a trip to the desert worth
     considering.
-- A trip to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. will save you the most among Florida's
top spots (an average of 34 percent) if your heart is set on exploring
     "America's Venice."

CheapTickets' Off-Season Deals Report is a timely summertime guide during an uncertain economic climate, offering hard data and expert suggestions for travel in the United States and abroad. To develop the summer 2008 Off-Season Deals Report, CheapTickets monitored the average price for all May 30 - August 15, 2008, hotel bookings purchased on CheapTickets.com in three regional categories. The rates were then compared to the average monthly rate to those same destinations purchased on CheapTickets.com.
