CheapTickets.com Introduces Four World-Class Cheap Travelers and Their Money-Saving Tips

Winners Earn Spot in CheapTickets' Print Advertising Campaign; New 'Share Your Cheap' Contest Announced

CHICAGO, May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The whirlwind of summer travel is fast approaching, and in a wavering economy, vacationers must be savvy about their spending. But with a bit of creativity, four travelers, identified during CheapTickets.com's (http://www.cheaptickets.com/) Show Us Your Cheap contest, show that the travel experience need not be undermined by a tightened pocketbook. Standing out among hundreds of applicants, each submitted their best travel tips and photos for a chance to win the ultimate vacation and a spot in CheapTickets' latest print advertising campaign.

Starting May 23, readers of the country's leading travel and leisure magazines will be introduced to CheapTickets' newest budget-savvy travelers. Their stories offer inspiration -- and effective strategies -- for those looking to break away this season. Best practices include:

-- Stop struggling to find the best deal to a specific place during the
peak season. Instead, find the best deal you can, and get going: For
Karen Huurman, this flexibility was the key to a warm-weather retreat
during New York City's winter chill. As a result, she and her family
celebrated their savings in Key Largo, Florida exploring the area's
      coral reefs.
-- Consider accommodations with a kitchen to avoid dining out for every
meal: This money-saving tactic allowed Carol Amerson of Southern
California and her husband to enjoy their passion for eco-adventure,
zip-lining through Kauai's treetops and exploring Maui's deep coastal
      waters aboard a submarine.
-- In Europe, book an unlimited train pass and choose overnight trips
between countries to avoid hotel costs: During a whirlwind visit to
Europe for the World Cup, this strategy allowed San Diego,
California's Steve Presser to travel for a glorious four weeks,
avoiding a financial cut on his vacation time.
-- Rent a van rather than fly, and consider a packed lunch during road
trips: Feeding a family of six, this proved especially important for
Mary Ann Whipple and her husband. Their budget-smart adventures
included a family road trip from upstate New York to Georgia's Jekyll
Island for a New Year's celebration spent on the beach.

"The response to Show Us Your Cheap has been a testament to the pride our customers have in getting the best deals when they travel," said Tom Russell, Group VP of Brand Marketing for CheapTickets. "It showed the passion that travel can ignite -- and the sense of victory people feel when they've saved money all while enjoying a wonderful vacation."

Mullen (http://www.mullen.com/) developed the new advertising campaign for CheapTickets, which will begin running late May in such titles as People, USA Weekend, Budget Travel, Everyday with Rachael Ray and O, The Oprah Magazine.

The Competition Continues with New "Share Your Cheap" Monthly Contest(1)
