CheapTickets Announces Beta-Test of Spanish Telesales Center

Offline Telesales Strategy in Line with Internet Adoption Rates Among Spanish-Dominant Speakers

CHICAGO, IL, September 24, 2007 - While the percentage is growing, the number of Spanish-dominant speaking adults making online purchases is approximately one in three (32%)¹, according to the Pew Internet & American Life Project and the Pew Hispanic Center. To better serve the travel needs of this community, ( today announced the launch of a test to sell travel via Spanish-speaking customer care and telesales agents through a dedicated toll-free number, 1-800-566-1333.

"The new CheapTickets telesales number -- in the short term - can help us cater to what we believe is an underserved audience," said Seth Brody, Vice President and General Manager, Hospitality Services and Telesales, Orbitz Worldwide. "It will also give us insight into the booking trends, patterns and travel products most valuable to our Spanish-speaking customers as we move toward launching a Spanish-language website."

Through the new telesales center, customers will have the ability to:

  • Receive personalized travel assistance from a Spanish-speaking customer care/telesales agent through call centers based in Panama.
  • Book travel accommodations from any of CheapTickets' family of discounted travel products including air, hotel, cruises, vacation packages, activities and event tickets.

Customers that would like more information or to book travel via CheapTickets' Spanish-speaking telesales agents can call 1-800-566-1333 or visit: Telesales customers will have access to all travel products, fares and discounts available to CheapTickets' online customers.
