Orbitz Shoulder Season Index Shows Big Savings for Travelers in Beach and Mountain Destinations this Fall

Travelers find fun and savings of nearly 60% off hotels during fall`s shoulder season

CHICAGO, October 1, 2013 - Before the holiday travel season gets into full swing, travelers searching for deals on last minute fall getaways should set their sights on beach and mountain locations, according to the 2013 Orbitz Fall Shoulder Season Index. Based on the Index, travelers visiting these destinations during the off-peak "shoulder season" can save nearly 60 percent off average daily hotel rates in comparison with the peak season.

"The difference of a couple months and degrees in temperature can add up to huge savings. Booking the right destinations at the right time can save travelers hundreds of dollars on a getaway," said Jeanenne Tornatore, senior travel editor for "Beach towns after the summer and mountain towns before ski season are often a best bet for finding great deals for fall travel."
