Donations Collected at Chicagoland LaSalle Bank Locations Donors Offered the Opportunity to Win Free Roundtrip Airfare from Orbitz
CHICAGO, IL (November 4, 2004) -- In an effort to support American forces stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan, Orbitz has enlisted the help of Illinois Lt. Governor Pat Quinn and LaSalle Bank to collect items for care packages that will be shipped to the brave men and women serving overseas. Chicagoans contributing to the care packages will have the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes to win one of 25 free roundtrip flights from Orbitz.
"This effort originated as an internal program at Orbitz when we began collecting items for our employees who had family members serving in the military overseas," said Jeffrey Katz, president and CEO of Orbitz. "The response was so positive that we decided to turn it into a citywide program in time for Veterans Day. And, as a leader in online travel, we thought that offering the opportunity for free trips would be a great incentive to get people engaged."
Donations will be accepted at any of the more than 125 LaSalle Bank locations throughout Chicagoland from November 8 through 20 (for branch locations, visit www.lasallebank.com).
From there, the Illinois branch of "Operation Support Our Troops," a military-assistance organization run by military families operating under guidelines issued by the Pentagon, will collect, package and ship the care packages. Items requested from the soldiers include:
-Canned Fruit/Fruit Cups |
-Cheese & Crackers
-Hard Candy and Chewing Gum
-Personal Notes with of Appreciation for the Soldiers
(Please include a self-addressed envelope so they may respond to you)

"'Operation Support Our Troops' has undertaken meaningful work on behalf of those serving in the Middle East and we're proud to assist with this collection of care packages," said Norman R. Bobins, president and chief executive officer of LaSalle Bank Corporation.
