ebookers hands its media planning and buying account to MediaCom

5th April, 2007, LONDON, ENGLAND:

ebookers, the on-line travel company announced today that they have awarded their multi-million pounds communications planning and buying business to MediaCom, after a highly competitive pitch process.

The decision comes as the on-line business looks to reinvigorate the brand and ensure complete integration of all activity.

This announcement follows ebookers recent appointment of PR agency Pleon and advertising agency Hall Moore CHI to work with the brand during 2007.

Clarifications:

A media article has appeared about this appointment, however a number of the points included in this piece were inaccurate. Ebookers would like to take this opportunity to clarify the points raised:

  • ebookers did not hold a three-way pitch with Mediacom, Carat and OMD.  ebookers has at no point met some of the agencies mentioned about their requirements. ebookers at no point released or plans to release the names of the agencies involved in the pitch process.
  • Conrad Advertising has a long-term relationship with ebookers handling classified advertising. It will continue to work with the company on a project basis
  • Travelport did not purchase ebookers in February 2005. ebookers was purchased by Cendant at this time
