CHICAGO, IL, Dec. 19, 2006 –, a leading online travel agency that knows "the less you pay, the better it feelsSM," also knows how to help destination seekers pinpoint the best times to go to the "in" places on a budget.

CheapTickets now makes it easy for budget-conscious travelers as it unveils its 2007 Value Travel Forecast Cheapometer. This latest edition expertly identifies the best times to save at popular destinations in the New Year.

"No one has a crystal ball into the future, least of all the future of hotel and airline availability and travel pricing" said Marita Hudson of CheapTickets' Cheap SquadSM. "But as travel follows cyclical patterns, we do have historical data that allows us to map out the monthly pricing averages for our customers' trip choices so they don't break the bank in 2007."

In 2006, the most popular domestic and international hot spots for CheapTickets' customers ranged from exotic island locales to Midwest favorites. Travelers can now plan their 2007 travel schedules, armed with CheapTickets comparative forecast – the Cheapometer.

  • Travelers who long for a vacation in Italy in 2007, for instance, would do well to consider booking a trip in March 2007, to realize savings of up to 42% off the annual average.
  • Plan ahead for an exciting trip to Japan, another overseas destination popular in 2006, for which September offers the best savings, at up to 58% off the annual average.
  • Closer to home, skiers take note – trips to Lake Tahoe are up to 60% less in November than the annual average.

The CheapTickets Cheapometer is a monthly travel pricing guide that analyzes where vacationers can maximize their travel experience without maxing out their credit, here in the U.S. and abroad. The 2007 Value Travel Cheapometer takes a year-long look at hotel pricing in hundreds of popular tourist destinations and determines the best month to experience the highest percentage savings in those destinations. The report below forecasts a sampling of three cities each month where CheapTickets' customers can travel and save in 2007.

Based on analysis from its 2007 Value Travel Forecast Cheapometer, CheapTickets has identified its top picks for cheap destinations in the New Year. For each month, CheapTickets has chosen a budget-friendly destination that offers a bevy of attractions and activities, some on the CheapTickets Activities page, sure to please the conscientious traveler in 2007.

New York, NY – January in New York? Baby, it's cold outside. But there are plenty of wallet-friendly indoor activities to be had, like sampling from one of New York's 18,696 restaurants! Or, get a bird's-eye-view of the city during a (heated) Helicopter Tour of Lady Liberty.

Netherlands – As one of the most architecturally beautiful places, take a stroll through the countryside of Amsterdam. But, if you need to warm up duck into one of the fifty exquisite and culturally-rich museums.

Italy – As spring arrives, Italy's March weather is variable, but the romance remains constant. Savor views of Venetian canals and towering Roman architecture while the major cities are still light on tourists. It'll be your very own Italian paradiso.

Jamaica – A Caribbean setting perfect for the entire family, Jamaica's all-inclusive resorts make vacation planning a breeze during school break. Activities are available for all generations including snorkeling, sailing and all-around island exploring, making for a stress-free holiday that everyone can enjoy.

Hawaii – At Kualoa Ranch near Oahu, visitors can get back to nature during a horseback ride along various trails and breathtaking cliffs. The spectacular ocean view is a thrilling kick-off to warm-weather in the new year. Aloha summer!

Park City, UT – Beyond the grandiose mountains that make Park City a famed skiing hot spot, the city's social summertime flair gives winter a run for its money, at a great price. To take advantage of the hip nightlife, visitors can purchase a weeklong membership to the local clubs for $4, and best of all, Park City offers a free citywide bus system, the perfect way to end the night safely.

Tucson, AZ – Considered one of the top destinations for spa aficionados, high-season rates at Tucson's premier spa getaways can be prohibitive to the value-minded wellness-traveler. But in the summer as the temperature rises, travelers will find that a Southwestern spa getaway becomes strikingly more affordable, and less crowded.

Las Vegas, NV – If you've found your hunk of burning love, but dread the thought of an expensive summer wedding in 2007, keep it simple with the "Let's Get Hitched" wedding package at the A Story Book Wedding Chapel. To celebrate, your friends and family can enjoy the endless indoor activities for which Las Vegas is renowned, including those geared towards kids.

Japan – Explore Japan on foot during the beautiful autumnal color changes. Gold and crimson leaves offer a visual delight, and are the ideal reason to explore fascinating cities like Tokyo without paying hefty transportation costs.

Costa Rica – Home to a dynamic eco-system, Costa Rica is a haven for nature-lovers. Canopy tours of the tropical rainforests transport visitors over 100 ft. off the jungle floor for an exhilarating panoramic vista, and the lasting memories are worth every penny

Lake Tahoe, NV – Tahoe's world-class ski season generally starts in late November, the perfect time to take advantage of savings up to 60%. Of course, Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate with skiers plans, but visitors are guaranteed to find plenty that keeps them busy, on and off the slopes. A tram ride to the top of one of Tahoe's famed mountains gives visitors a truly breathtaking view of the blue lake below. And a newly upgraded downtown features great shopping and dining for travelers on a budget.

Greece – While the usually hot beach weather can be temperamental during the winter season, it's the perfect time to explore Greek cities rich in cultural traditions, such as Athens. Recently upgraded for the 2004 Olympics, you'll find a welcoming city that, in the midst of modernization, hasn't lost its sense of history.
