"MyPassport2Europe" campaign offers participants the chance to win a dream vacation to Europe
CHICAGO, August 1, 2013 - Leading online travel company Orbitz Worldwide (NYSE: OWW) has partnered with the European Travel Commission (ETC) to promote North American travel to Europe through the launch of a social media campaign, "MyPassport2Europe," and an advertising match agreement open to all 33 ETC member countries. "MyPassport2Europe" launches today and runs through August 31, offering participants the opportunity to win a two-week dream vacation to Europe, including flight and accommodation prizes for two that will be provided by Orbitz.com, the exclusive OTA partner for this marketing initiative.
In support of the "Destination Europe 2020" initiative, a long-term strategy to strengthen the image of European tourism, "MyPassport2Europe" is designed to foster direct engagement with consumers during the trip planning stage and position Europe as a premier destination for every kind of traveler. As promoted through ETC social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest as well as a standalone website at www.mypassport2europe.com, contest participants will be asked to answer trivia questions about all 36 European countries. Orbitz.com will provide the winners with round trip air travel for two and accommodations for two weeks in a European destination of their choice.
The partnership between ETC and Orbitz also calls for a significant advertising component whereby Orbitz will offer ETC members a dollar-for-dollar match that will double the value of any branding, production or lead generation marketing efforts across all Orbitz Worldwide consumer sites, including Orbitz (www.orbitz.com), CheapTickets (www.cheaptickets.com), ebookers (www.ebookers.com) and HotelClub (www.hotelclub.com). The match program can be applied to any of Orbitz Worldwide's digital media solutions to reach qualified travelers, including email marketing, retargeting, digital advertising, lead generation, sponsored promotions, co-op campaigns and social media.
