Orbitz and VISIT FLORIDA Launch New Fall Campaign

Broad marketing partnership encourages travelers to book a longer Florida vacation this fall

CHICAGO, Sept. 12, 2013 - Leading online travel company Orbitz Worldwide (NYSE: OWW) and VISIT FLORIDA, the state's official tourism marketing corporation, today launched an extensive marketing campaign that runs through November 30 and is supported by digital and broadcast media encouraging consumers to book travel and activities at  The campaign will run on along with search engine marketing (SEM) efforts, a TV commercial and offsite media banners to drive travel bookings to Florida.

Florida hosted 26.2 million visitors from January through March 2013, making it the biggest quarter for visitation in the history of Florida tourism, and the second quarter was equally strong when 23.4 million visitors flocked to the state. In 2012, and its affiliated consumer brands -, European-based and Asia-Pacific-based - booked travel to Florida for visitors from all 50 states and 173 countries. With the launch of the fall campaign Orbitz and VISIT FLORIDA look to maintain tourism momentum in a state that offers an endless variety of attractions and activities including sugar-white beaches, fine dining, golf, shopping, action-packed theme parks and world-class fishing, just to name a few.

"Florida is the world's No. 1 vacation destination because there's just so much to do," said Paul Phipps, chief marketing officer for VISIT FLORIDA. "So the question we're asking our millions of visitors - and it's really an invitation - is why limit your stay? We are going to make staying longer possible. And that's where Orbitz comes in, because they have unprecedented reach to travelers who are eager to experience all the Sunshine State has to offer."

When booking travel at, consumers can take advantage of special offers and discounts at destinations across the state. For example, travelers can get a third night free at the five-star Grove Isle Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove; a fourth night free at the four-star Bonaventure Resort and Spa in Weston; or save between 30 and 60 percent at over a dozen properties in cities including Orlando, Miami Beach and Kissimmee, among others.

"Florida has always been one of the most popular destinations among Orbitz customers, in part because there is an activity or attraction for every kind of traveler," said Josh Winkler, vice president of partner marketing at Orbitz Worldwide. "In addition to advertising, SEM initiatives and a TV commercial airing in the Chicago market, we are leveraging advanced audience segmentation technology that more effectively targets our offsite media banners at travelers who are most likely to consider a Florida vacation - ultimately driving incremental travel bookings to Florida in the most efficient way possible."
